imogen vs jason

here is the deal:
i really love imogen heap's artistry.
first became addicted to her work after hearing frou frou's version of
"holding out for a hero" from the shrek soundtrack.
{not kidding- that is actually a true story . . . and the soundtrack isn't half bad as i recall}.
~~~
side story . . .
btw- totally shocked at the number of fan-made anime videos that showed up for that song on youtube;
astounded upon further research.
seriously?
~~~
anyway . . .
i almost never listen to the radio.
in fact, i generally try to avoid it
{there is only so much britney and lil' wayne a girl can take}.
that is except for, like, two stations every now and then that play fun music in the evening {usually on my way home from the gym} like metric, owl city, passion pit . . .
BUT THIS WEEK
i can't seem to find my ipod converter anywhere
{it will probably turn up once i clean my bedroom . . . in another 3 weeks when i have the time}.
so, i've been forced to turn on the radio {ugh, please no more miley, please!!!} when my cds just don't hit whatever my ears crave.
getting to my point:
i must have heard jason derulo's "whatcha say" 8-billion times this afternoon.
actually, probably only twice.
now hear me out.
i have nothing against pop/r&b.
sometimes i even listen to it willingly {shocked?}.
still, my heart feels the use of my fave track from imogen's "speak for yourself" album as a hook does it some major injustice.
not to mention that using the word "watcha" really does kill me.
this is probably one of those songs that i won't like until
i hear it in some fun context
{dancing with my friends, car drive with a fun group of people . . . experiences such as these tend to improve songs that are by themselves simply horrid}.
~~~
one week until catalyst!
farewell, mr. fisher
donald fisher {1928-2009}
gap founder
as a former gap employee, i feel obligated to thank mr. fisher for indirectly financing part of my trip to india last year.
and also for a really great discount, with which i bought too many delightful little things to wear for practically nothing.
~~~

not picked for jury duty yesterday.

this seems to be a trend in my life.

thankfully, this time it worked to my advantage.

puddles, prada and patience

i love fall puddles.
i also love my black wellies
{which somehow in between the time i wore these when i took this picture and when i wore them to the highland games developed holes in the toes and now i need to replace them but haven't found ones i like nearly as much but i haven't looked at llbean yet so maybe there is still hope . . . sigh}.
want to know what else i love?
prada's magical and captivating red ridinghood theme.
i found these snaps {somewhere- can't remember} of the nyc store window.
crave much.
~~~
just a couple more weeks
{actually, almost 2 months}
until sister comes home for thanksgiving!
she's bringing her boyfriend to visit and meet the fam for the first time.
i'm so excited to get to know the guy who makes my beautiful and inspiring sister so happy.
we're already planning a fantastical weekend of cooking, movie-watching, cocoa sipping and a delightful black friday trip to boston for some fun shopping.
and more eating?
yes, more eating.
i can't wait for them to be here!
this is halloween!
first day ever of civic duty . . .
darn you, manchester court system!
this is not like kickball in 4th grade.
not being picked is a good thing.
~~~
i kinda, just a lil' admire tim burton
{the nightmare before christmas- soooo good!}.
and i am determined to go see it.
harper's bazaar is featuring his fashion editorial.
i dare say . . .
i am
spookily
inspired.
anyone for a hot cider and hocus pocus?

new york, i love you

have you watched roman polanski's "greed?"
i hadn't seen it yet until this weekend. . .
pretty cute;
especially considering my love for french fragrance commercials.
~~~
how many of you loved "paris, je t'aime?"
i watched it with my 3 other roommates a couple of years ago
and they all
hated
it.
i think lili actually left the room.
maybe i'm weird, but i reaaaally liked it.
in keeping with the theme of amore, i think.
so, because of this,
i'm a little excited to see this:
this probably has everything to do with my minisummerloveaffair
with the city.
regardless, i'm stoked to see it mid-october
{hopefully it will actually get to an itty-bitty new hampshire theater}.
hurray for friday!
happy weekend!
bestest and i are shopping tomorrow
{that is, after she cleans for her great aunt and i run a volunteer training}.
it will be a well-deserved frolic.
on my list:
super dark straight leg jeans {the cupcake fast is working}
i realize i won't be finding {or, rather, purchasing} everything on my list,
but i can dream, right?
disney nation
evidently, designers are channeling walt disney for their spring 2010 collections.
i must say the "fantasia" look by michael kors is sweet.
i'm also pretty tempted to pull a temperley cruella.
and i think i know what would happen, say, if anna sui tried an
"emperer's new groove . . ."
botox.
hopkinton fair
i finally found and developed the disposable camera that i took with me to the hopkinton fair a few weeks ago.
went with a bunch of friends and had a splendid time.
cute little {and some not so little} farm animals.
award-winning pumpkins.
carnival rides.
brother saying, "carnies!" 800,000 times
{and scornful looks from bestest and me}.
granny smith caramel apples.
we did make one misjudgement.
i may have already mentioned this;
i can't remember.
bestest and i tried elk and ostrich burgers.
well, we split them between 4 girls.
i believe someone quoted, "when in rome," before scarfing
{cough- this may have been me}.
needless to say,
after over a year of not eating meat,
this was overall unwise and generally stupid.
let's just say my body appreciates the fact that a repeat performance is not planned.
still, the fair was fun.
many more to come;
this is new england, after all!
welcome, fall- we love you here.
"leatha"
stella zotis from project runway may have had it right . . .
i am dying for a cute jacket this season.
with a big scarf and super-dark jeans?
oh yeah.
the hunt begins.
for my leatha.
hold the cheese, please
i had to grab groceries at walmart today for some new clients.
imagine my horror . . .
discovering an entire wall dedicated to kraft singles.
what is this stuff {because it certainly isn't cheese} anyway?
i've never truly been able to tell.
just say "no," america.
wanted: one fantastical tiara
probably one of my new faves when i am looking to kill a little time
{who doesn't love to mindlessly browse through tumblr sites???}.
it's completely decadent.
now i'm left craving a strawberry cupcake with vanilla butter cream frosting and pink sugar sprinkled on top.
yeah, i know, it's cellulite and a cavity just waiting to happen.
happy fall!
munching on mango slices and a veggie burger {with yummy roasted red pepper hummus} for supper.
so happy to be finished work- hauled furniture all day long and now my arms feel like limp spaghetti.
last few weeks have been a crazy mess-
sorry for all of my complaining and inconsistent postings.
i'm trying to get better.
~~~
september 22, 2009
first day of fall.
dead leaf smell.
apple picking.
foliage festivals.
crispy air nights.
steaming soup.
hello, fall. i welcome you.
~~~
even though i'm a little embarrassed by it,
i must admit that i am excited for "new moon."
{not as much as i am to see paperheart, but that's another story . . .}
i feel about the twilight series as i do about cupcakes-
delicious
too much sugar
only can consume with a balanced diet of nutritiously good and serious things
overall, just fun.
the first film was admittedly terrible,
but i will go see the latest installment with my girls anyway.
if anything, just to hear the soundtrack
{stephanie meyer's writing playlist is what hooked me to the series last summer in the first place}.
just released yesterday:
Death Cab for Cutie – Meet Me On the Equinox
Band of Skulls – Friends
Thom Yorke – Hearing Damage
Lykke Li – Possibility
The Killers – A White Demon Love Song
Anya Marina – Satellite Heart
Muse- I Belong To You (New Moon Remix)
Bon Iver & St. Vincent- Rosyln
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club – Done All Wrong
Hurricane Bells – Monsters
Sea Wolf- The Violet Hour
OK Go – Shooting the Moon
Grizzly Bear With Victoria Legrand– Slow Life
Editors – No Sound But the Wind
Alexandre Desplat – New Moon (The Meadow)
~~~
went to the highland games over the weekend.
loads of fun.
will update with pictures soon.

weekend bliss

it is finally the weekend!
most difficult week in a very long time.
i am tuckered out.
pooped.
done.
over it.
finished.
until monday.
spending all day meeting with pulse peeps.
then 2 months' worth of laundry.
literally.
i found the suspender shorts i wore in nyc at the bottom of the basket this morning and was completely grossed out.
must get better at this "life management" thing.
happy saturday and sunday!

it's good to be a girl

i am so inspired by girly looks lately.
i pretty much want to dress up every single day.
plus,
i love michelle williams' new crop:
