the blistering cold
{9 degrees today and ridiculous winds . . . it took the whole drive to work
for my car to get warm}
is keeping us in tonight.
the girls are coming over to watch
and eat yummy snacks.
tomorrow is coffee with bestest
{i feel like i haven't seen her in foreeeeever}
and lots of exciting laundry.
stay toasty!

songs about vegetables and bugs

or something like that.
i can't wait for this!
my sister introduced me to her music after studying at oxford for a couple of months-
actually,
she came back with a ton of cool music that winter.
i owe my love for bon iver to her as well.
bestest and i are going to see joanna newsom perform at harvard this march . . .
i've never seen her live before
and i must admit that i have lofty expectations!

the girls are coming over

to watch bright star.
ooooohhhh,
i can't wait.
{yes, i'm a dork and made my own e-vite just because.}

rainy monday

we shall require row boats soon.
it's been pouring all day.
between our near monsoon and the melting snow,
currents will take over our nh roads before we know it.
all i wanted to today was sit on the couch in a pair of flannel pajamas
and watch
anne of green gables.
instead i worked a full day
{it's terrible that i'm blessed with employment, no?},
went to the gym
and filled the bathtub with lots of hot hot water.
~~~
also,
please excuse the posting of random glass items.
i like pretty things.
i had a circa 1994 weekend
i was so lazy this weekend.
i spent pretty much all of saturday in bed,
watching episode after episode of
my so-called life.
{one of the first 'big kid' shows that my mother allowed me to watch . . . as a 6th grader . . .
but only if she watched it with me so she could screen content.}
i, like so many other adolescent/teenage girls, pretty much wanted to be angela chase.
"and by the way, i spell my name with one L."
not to mention the obvious bonus of being claire danes' character . . .
{ . . . just in case you kindasortamaybe in your 12-15 year old heart still want to declare your devotion . . .} i had to shut off the tv after a while though. i found i was channeling my teen "ihatemybody/hair/skin/lifeandalloftheabove" angst in a really bad way after a few hours. crazy, huh? seriously. it was bad enough the first time around.
~~~
back to work tomorrow. sigh. the weekend is never long enough.

hello, new york, i love you.

bestest and i ventured off to nyc this summer
to catch a really fabulous exhibit
{model as muse}
and to engage is some general city ridiculousness.
whilst on our mini-vacation,
my holga had a freak out {sadness}
and none of my pictures came out.
soooo,
bestest was kind enough to let me kidnap her digital camera
{because i am stupid and had not thought to pack mine . . . she makes up for so many of my faults}
and let me steal the originals so that i might have my way with them . . .
i want to go back.
and live.
immediately.

the other things bestest and i did on saturday

i tell you, bestest and i know how to have a good time.
1. start the day with relaxing mani/pedis . . .
{magazine choices probably reflect our mental ages . . .
seventeen v.s. boston bride.
hmmmm . . . }
2. go out for tea at the most darling tea house
we also discovered the little {actually, huuuuge; they had about 5 rooms} shoppe
underneath antiquiteas.
we had a goodly amount of fun in the room for children's gifts.
tiny tea sets.
story books.
princess accessories.
{when i was little, i was always jealous of catholic girls because they got to dress up in those pretty white dresses and veils . . .
somehow not the same charm at 26.}
4. see a girly movie guaranteed to make you squeal.
leap year was adorable.
totally innocent and very funny.
bonus:
gooooorgeous cinematography.
5. eat sushi
{yes, i did eat a few bites of fish}
bestest was completely taken over with the size of this fish . . .
it probably out-weighs her dog.
so, today is monday and i'm now in my pj's
watching star wars . . .
avoiding laundry, cleaning and shoveling my car out of the piles of snow that fell last night.
bleh.
it's hard to believe i was comfortable on saturday wearing my
flip-flops
post-pedi.
thanks, new england, for reminding me that winter is not yet over.
i sense a disturbance in the force.

how great is our God

just listened to the most amazing message
by louie giglio
at church this morning.
listen to this
{parts 1 & 2}
whenever doubting the enormity and beauty of
God.

tea time for two

antiquiteas . . .
the cuuuuuuutest, most darling
little spot i have ever visited.
it's just outside our hometown and i can't even believe we've neglected this experience all these years.
the luncheon was absolutely delish;
snacked on little multi-grain soups and tea sandwiches
and
sipped lovely berry infused tea.
yum!
also . . . there were dozens of dainty details
{in my fave decor . . . nothing matched and yet everything was incredibly cohesive}
to cherish.
i am sure i drove all of the other guests crazy with my picture snapping.
couldn't help myself!
and the wallpaper.
need i say more?
even the bathroom was stinkin' adorable . . .
we also did a ton of other girly things today . . .
i'm just too tired to load more photos tonight.
more later.
{thanks, bestest, for a great best friend day!}

it's the weekend . . .

so celebrate!
not only is it finally friday night
{my fave time of each week}
but
it's also a 3-day weekend.
i hope you all have fabulous plans,
including
lots of volunteer work to do
as for me,
i have a terrific weekend planned:
lounging and doing nothing constructive tonight
{it's 8:30 pm and i'm already in jammies}
all-day girlie fun with bestest tomorrow
a terrific message during morning service and evening service at church on sunday
laundry {oh, there is so much} on monday --- yay for being a volunteer coordinator and
having the day off.
~~~
wonderful weekend wishes . . .
cheers!
making our own personal springtime
a lot of my favorite bloggers have been posting about how
glooooomy
it feels right now.
and they are right;
this stretch between the holidays and spring is rather brutal.
child-like anticipation ceased
pretty decorations dismantled
cheerful christmas music shut off
tasty cookies no longer baked
{okay, maybe this is a good thing}
the snow is no longer fresh and pretty
the cold gets old
and winter starts to feel overall too long and depressing.
will spring ever come?
right about now is when i reaaaaaaally appreciate my best friend.
she is intent on creating our own personal springtime
while we wait for the snow to melt
and flower to bloom again.
this saturday we have the most incredible list of
ridiculously girly things to do.
all day long.
i'll tell you about it later . . . i am reaaallly excited.
we're also planning a couple of trips to get out of new hampshire.
a couple of great shows to see
{the editors, wilco, joanna newsom, muse . . .}.
and watching the olympics!
we're determined not to let the cold and lack of sunlight
get us down.
ohhhh, and i just remembered that monday is a holiday . . .
hooray for sleeping in!
can i get a cup of coffee?
i've been working on a crafty project for the last two days.
and now i'm finally finished!
they're mustache coffee cozies!
one for bestest {green, her fave} and one for me.
i was inspired by a twitpic posted by a tweeter my agency follows
{i must say i like mine more . . . i might be biased}.
good things about owning your own cozy:
1) it is totally cute.
2) less waste!
~~~
did i mention that i'm on twitter now too?
i held out for
sooooooooo
long.
and now, as predicted,
i am addicted.
~~~
prayers for haiti.
safety,
peace
and comfort
for victims, loved ones of the affected
and
relief crews on the ground.
a bunch of random tuesday thoughts
the stoutimore exodus is complete.
{i just love this photo of us as little ones . . .
it's so old and poorly exposed that you can barely see our faces, but it is just too cute.
you'd never guess from this that i would end up the shortest, huh?}
sister flew out to fl yesterday
and
this morning,
i drove brother down to boston at
5 am
so he could catch his flight out to england.
i will miss them.
{a shout-out 'thank you' to the nice man at the toll booth who was friendly to me when i realized that i had forgotten to grab cash to get back through the tunnel in boston.
especially since i slipped a curse word in front of him.
although, i bet he has heard much worse.
seriously, who thinks of that stuff when they leave the house at crack of dawn???}
~~~
now for a day off to see the doctor for my knee{s} . . . again.
~~~
on another note,
deep fried cupcakes????
i dearly love a good cupcake,
but even this is
way too far
for me.
it really should be illegal to make this stuff.
fun with photobooth
sister left this morning for school in florida.
i am going to miss her.
{above is our photobooth boredness from christmas day . . .
doesn't sister have the model pout totally mastered???}
it would be strange to wear a headband like this everyday, right?
i'm not usually a headband girl,
but
i feel like i need one.
{with a slouchy grey sweatshirt . . . check.}
funny,
i can actually hear my brother rolling his eyes at me right now.
okay, well, maybe a toned down version . . .
now i kind of want summer. and my blond hair back. each present a distinct problem for me.
curses.
8-gazillion days of winter to go. and today seems like the coldest of them all.
it is 10 degrees outside right now!
sigh.
